Who We Are

The Virginia New Majority and the Virginia New Majority Education Fund organize and educate Virginians to win pro-people policies.  We encourage citizenship, civic participation, and informed voter engagement.

Founded in August 2007, VNM breaks from Virginia's old history of racism and corporate domination.  We build on the best democratic traditions as we work to create a new and modern political system where all of us can participate in the decisions that impact us; where funds are raised from those who can most afford to pay; and where government has a role in supporting the common well-being of all.

We build power by organizing the diverse peoples of the Commonwealth.  Together we make up a new majority- African Americans, immigrants, progressive whites, youth, women, gays and lesbians.
