Delegate Alfonso Lopez agreed on Wednesday to delay his HB 779 (the Virginia DREAM Act) until the 2013 legislative session. Several other anti-immigrant bills were defeated on Wednesday. Delegate David Albo's neighbors were visited by Immigrant rights activists last night and were asked to pressure him to drop his 4 anti-immigrant bills in the Virginia House of Delegates. Nearby residents expressed their concern about Albo's proposed laws, and questioned whether the Delegate was in touch with his constituents.

Tuesday, January 10th- Republican legislators were surprised Tuesday night when they were unexpectedly confronted by residents from across the commonwealth at the GOP caucus reception at the Jefferson Hotel. Some of those residents entered the expensive reception and unfurled banners with messages condemning the “extreme agenda” of the Virginia Republican Party, while others protested outside the reception.
