Residents and community activists reiterated fears that the Beauregard redevelopment plan will displace thousands of tenants during a Market Square rally Tuesday. The city planning commission takes up the debate tonight.
The demonstration — organized by Tenants and Workers United in cooperation with area groups like Virginia New Majority and Beauregard Tenant Association — highlighted affordable housing, health care access and quality education concerns in marginalized low-income communities.
